Develop a breakthrough mentality

May 17, 2010 - Leave a Response

TODAY’S VERSE: Romans 12:1-2

“So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.” [The Message (MSG) Copyright © 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 2000, 2001, 2002 by Eugene H. Peterson]

TODAY’S MESSAGE:

According to United States history, an emancipation proclamation was announced during the American Civil War under President Abraham Lincoln (circa 1863) that granted freedom to slaves. Slavery was a reality in those days, and close to 4 million slaves were declared free by summer of 1865. However, even after such presidential order took effect, many of these individuals and families who had lived all their life in bondage continued to live this way –mainly due to the simple fact of not knowing or understanding the new freedom law. They had been declared free, but were not exercising their right to live in freedom.

Today (21st century), bondage and slavery still exist in many forms. From constant fear to financial debt to physical illness, circumstances can try to control our life and steal our daily peace and joy. However, even in the midst of all these things, the Bible declares that we are free, so you and I are indeed able to choose *not* to live under the control of our circumstances. Yes, you and I can do all things through Him Who gives us strength (Philippians 4:13) –if only we focus on following the Spirit’s guidance and renewing our minds with God’s Word according to Romans 12:2.

The true Gospel of Jesus Christ is all about developing a life characterized by a breakthrough mentality. A lifestyle of joy, peace and grace surrounded by blessings is the primary result of a personal relationship with God vs. simply following a religion. Thus, there is no reason why we should conform to a self-defeated and worry-full lifestyle when Jesus came to set us free once and for all!

Start today developing a breakthrough and abundance mindset. Declare God’s Word every day. Walk in your God-given destiny. Reclaim your peace and joy. Live a life of love. Let God take care of the rest.

TODAY’S PRAYER:

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for setting me free through Your Son Jesus, and providing me a way to experience genuine peace, joy and love through my relationship with You. I commit to develop a breakthrough mentality and tear down every argument and thought against Your perfect will for my life. Despite my present circumstances, I rejoice in Your faithfulness and salvation and proclaim my freedom in Jesus’ mighty name, amen!

TODAY’S MESSAGE

Each day brings us new opportunities to either complain about everything going on around us, or give thanks for how blessed we really are. Every single day the choice to respond either way is in our hands…

As we enter into a new season of hope and expectation around Christmas and the upcoming New Year, it is a great time to consider God’s faithfulness in our lives. For despite all the troubles and tribulations we’ve gone through in the past year, you and I are still standing because of God’s eternal lovingkindness and faithfulness. For God as our Heavenly Father loves us so much, and every single day He bestows blessings toward our loved ones and us. Perhaps we have not taken the time to stay still and see Him working on our behalf…

TODAY’S PRAYER

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for Your awesome faithfulness despite everything else happening around me. Thank You for the gift of life, health, and resources to be able to live and give. Teach me each day to enjoy the beautiful life moments You grant my family and me, and give us strength to continue on our earthly journey living a life worth living. In Jesus’ precious name, amen.

TODAY’S VERSE: Philippians 4:4
“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!” –NIV[1]

“Celebrate God all day, every day. I mean, revel in him!” –MSG[2]

TODAY’S MESSAGE
The following “alphabet song” is an anonymous creation I repeat once every year because it awesomely declares the true spirit of praise and thanksgiving despite our present circumstances:

Although things are not perfect
Because of trial or pain
Continue in thanksgiving
Do not begin to blame
Even when the times are hard
Fierce winds are bound to blow
God is forever able
Hold on to what you know
Imagine life without His love
Joy would cease to be
Keep thanking Him for all the things
Love imparts to thee
Move out of “Camp Complaining”
No weapon that is known
On earth can yield the power
Praise can do alone
Quit looking at the future
Redeem the time at hand
Start every day with worship
To “thank” is a command
Until we see Him coming
Victorious in the sky
We’ll run the race with gratitude
Xalting God most high
Yes, there’ll be good times and yes some will be bad, but…
Z ion waits in glory…where none are ever sad!

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Heavenly Father, **THANK YOU!** for being such an awesome God!! I cannot truly understand Your love and grace toward me, but I know that You are pleased with a genuine heart full of praise. I declare that You are my God, and despite my current circumstances, I bless Your Holy Name and believe in Your awesome power working miracles on my behalf. In the mighty name of Your Son, Jesus I pray, trust, and rejoice, amen!

Please enjoy a wonderful Thanksgiving Day!

TODAY’S MESSAGE

Every day seems to bring countless reasons to complain and be stressed out. On the other hand, every day there are countless reasons to be thankful. Just look all around you.

Yes, I agree there is a lot of uncertainty and insecurity out there. However, there are also many great people making a big difference in so many ways, providing resources and avenues for you and me to be blessed today. This aside from a beautiful creation from which we receive so much for our living existence.

Above all, let us not forget that behind it all is an Almighty and Always-Loving God taking care of His children and creation even in ways we would never think possible. Today, and every day, let us demonstrate our gratefulness to Him by praising His Holy Name… by expressing our gratitude for His endless care for us… by letting Him know how much we love Him.

TODAY’S PRAYER

Dear Heavenly Father, what an awesome privilege to be a child of The Almighty God of the Universe! Thank You for all the blessings that have come to me and my loved ones in so many ways. I acknowledge that everything comes from You, and worship You by surrendering my heart and will to Yours. In Jesus’ precious name I praise and rejoice in Your faithfulness, amen.

Are your emotions in control?

TODAY’S VERSE: Proverbs 14:30

“A sound mind makes for a robust body, but runaway emotions corrode the bones. [The Message (MSG) Copyright © 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 2000, 2001, 2002 by Eugene H.  Peterson]

TODAY’S MESSAGE

In highly-critical times like the ones you and I face today, it is not uncommon to see and experience a sense of chaos, confusion, and in many cases anger and desperation. After all, how are we going to survive the upcoming months and years? How are we going to overcome the current global recession and potential depression in front of our eyes? Where will we be in the next year or so if we lose our jobs, become ill due to stressful factors, or are not able to sustain our families and lifestyles?

All these questions are valid ones; however, dwelling constantly on them can easily trigger emotional responses that can easily lure us into losing faith and hope and taking matters into our own hands. Worse yet, allowing our emotions to control us due to fear and anxiety can very easily lead us into a miserable self-destructive egocentricism –far away from the life we were designed to live and share.

Through a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ we have the ultimate key to keep our emotions in check. Once we decide to allow God’s love and grace to rule in our hearts, fear and unhealthy stress have no place in us. And I am not speaking without experience in this area. Writing these lines is a broken man who in the last year alone has experienced several big losses but is still standing strong, not because of his own ability to stand, but only because of his deep relationship with The Unmovable and Always-Faithful Almighty God.

Peace above human understanding is God’s promise for you, too. I invite you to make it yours today.

TODAY’S PRAYER

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for loving me so much to the point of sacrificing your own Son for me. I ask and accept Your forgiveness for trying to manage my life on my own and not trusting that You, my Creator and Provider, have always had my best interest at heart. Thank You for granting me peace through my daily challenges, and for giving me the strength and wisdom to control my emotional responses and live a life worth living. In Jesus’ precious name I pray and rejoice in Your salvation and unending favor, amen.

TODAY’S VERSE: Proverbs 16:16

“How much better it is to get skillful and godly Wisdom than gold! And to get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver.” [Amplified Bible (AMP) Copyright © 1954, 1958, 1962, 1964, 1965, 1987 by The Lockman Foundation]

“Get wisdom—it’s worth more than money; choose insight over income every time.” [The Message (MSG) Copyright © 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 2000, 2001, 2002 by Eugene H.  Peterson]

TODAY’S MESSAGE

In challenging financial times, like the ones we are all experiencing today, it is very easy to get caught in our need for money and financial security for obvious reasons. We all need to secure a living, especially those with family obligations. We all need to make sure we have enough to cover other necessities, such as insurance. And we all need to consider saving for our future years when our physical ability will not allow us to work anymore.

Being responsible for ourselves and our families and providing for their needs is very important; however, the focus on money and financial resources alone will never produce in us a healthy lifestyle in sync with our God-given design. Unless we choose to live in “survival mode” for the rest of our earthly existence, we definitely need something much more valuable and precious than money: godly wisdom.

I invite you today to take a moment and evaluate what is most precious for you right now, and to ask God for a deeper level of wisdom and understanding in your life to deal with all your present and future challenges and decisions. God will not only honor your prayer but will also work on your behalf so that you may experience the awesome results of trusting your Creator, Provider, and True Source of all wisdom. Trust me… there is nothing in the entire Universe more valuable than this.

TODAY’S PRAYER

Dear Heavenly Father, I thank You for being The Great Provider of everything I am and everything I have. Thank You for life itself, and for the gift of love and friendship. Most of all, thank You for always being willing to grant us wisdom when we most need it. Teach me to trust in Your unfailing faithfulness while I continue walking and focusing on what’s really important in life. In Your Son Jesus’ precious name, amen.

TODAY’S MESSAGE

Yesterday, November 8th was declared International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church. I personally did not know this until I read it in an e-mail shared with me. So, I saw it as God’s desire for me to intercede for our Brothers and Sisters around the world who are suffering for Jesus’ sake.

This morning, I feel the need to ask you to join me in praying for the persecuted Church. If you are able right at this moment, or later today or this week, please do so. Only God knows what circumstances our dear Christian brethren are experiencing, and you and I have a powerful resource in prayer to assist them in their mission and journey.

As a helpful guide, here are a few prayer points, provided by Open Doors USA (a ministry committed to encouraging persecuted Christians):

• Pray for the safety and faith of the secret believers in countries where it is illegal to share about Christ;
• Pray for the health, perseverance, and encouragement of believers who are imprisoned for the gospel;
• Pray that those whose loved ones have died due to martyrdom will rely on God for their strength.
TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for the blessing I have in my country to freely worship You, attend church services and share my faith openly with others. I pray right now for all my Brothers and Sisters who do not share these same privileges, but are continuously persecuted for Your sake. I pray for safety, health, perseverance, and encouragement for those believers facing imprisonment and extreme challenges, and for Your grace, favor and protection over the families of those who have died for their faith. We know that You are a Just God, and you will reward those Who serve You even to the point of death. In Jesus’ name we trust and pray, amen.

TODAY’S MESSAGE

All of us possess a deep desire to enjoy a happy life. How we wish the world and our circumstances were more predictable and less chaotic! How awesome would it be to live without worries of any kind… to have everything we’ve always wanted and needed… to be 100% care-free, worry-free, and stress-free!

Unfortunately, life on this Earth is far from perfect with so many variables out of our control. Nevertheless, there is something we *do* have a choice to control: our focus. The more we concentrate in God’s goodness and how blessed we are in so many ways, the more we are able to enjoy contentment and joy in whatever conditions we experience. And the more we focus and delight in God, His Kingdom and his work in and through us, the closer we will be from receiving the desires of our heart.

TODAY’S PRAYER

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for Your awesome promises recorded in Your Word, through which I can strengthen my faith in Your faithfulness and fulfill my earthly mission. Teach me to stay focused in what’s truly important and meaningful in life while delighting daily in Your presence and goodness. In Jesus’ precious name, amen.

Can we enjoy true inner peace despite negative circumstances?

TODAY’S VERSE: Isaiah 26:3

“You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!” [New Living Translation (NLT) Holy Bible. New Living Translation copyright © 1996, 2004 by Tyndale Charitable Trust. Used by permission of Tyndale House Publishers.]

TODAY’S MESSAGE

Can perfect peace be enjoyed in the midst of so much uncertainty everywhere around us? Is it really possible to pursue and experience an inner peace that bypasses our everyday anxieties? How about during times of financial lack, illness, or sorrow? How about when we do not have enough money to cover our next month’s expenses? Or how about when the physician’s report shows no signs of recovery? Can we still enjoy peace despite all this?

As a human being living in an imperfect and troubled world just like you, I have personally experienced my share of losses, anxieties, and lack in life. However, I have also sensed God’s unexplainable peace whenever I have chosen to trust in Him, whenever I directed my thoughts toward His goodness, whenever I allowed my heart to worship Him and express all my love and adoration to my Creator. Those specific moments of choosing to focus on God’s greatness regardless of the chaos around me have provided all the peace, strength and wisdom I have needed to carry on.

So, yes… it *is* possible to enjoy perfect peace despite circumstances. The key is trusting that God truly loves us and cares for us every single second of our lives, and He will guide us to find a way if we patiently delight in His goodness.

TODAY’S PRAYER

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for being everything we need, and for always being there to love and care for us. Thank You for everything you have provided in the past, and for the present and future provision already on its way toward my friends, family and those who have chosen to trust You. Teach us all to keep our faith strong, and grant us wisdom to honor You each day as we walk and patiently wait on You. In Your Son Jesus’ precious name, amen.
