TODAY’S VERSE: Deuteronomy 8:1

Be careful to follow every command I am giving you today, so that you may live and increase and may enter and possess the land that the LORD promised on oath to your forefathers.” –NIV[1]

TODAY’S MESSAGE

In moments of abundance, quietness and peace, we human beings tend to forget God. But it is in times of despair, tragedy, and sorrow that we draw close to Him.

This does not need to be this way. For God is always ready to bless, prosper, and guide us into peace and wholeness. But the real difference is made in our heart. If we choose to follow and obey God, we will reap blessings; if we choose otherwise, we will only see curse. This principle works exactly the same as the God-given law of sowing and reaping.

This was Moses’ message to the people of Israel before crossing the Jordan River and entering the Promised Land. God had already provided a blessed land for His people, a land of overabundance, as promised to their ancestors Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. But the Israelites needed to make a decision: to honor, love, and follow God, or to live a selfish, independent life without God. Their choice would definitely mark their destiny, and in Scripture we can clearly see the results of the choices made.

In this same way, you and I have a God-given destiny that depends on a choice we make today. We may choose to love God and serve Him and others (which will reap inevitable blessings), or we may choose to live self-centered lives without God’s part in it. The choice is ours.

Today you can make a choice for life or death. Today you can live like everybody else, or you can choose to remember God in all your ways, and He will faithfully direct your path into abundant living. I pray that you choose the latter.

TODAY’S PRAYER

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for being a Faithful and Loving Provider. Help me to choose what’s right, and remember You in all my ways. Help me also to become a blessing unto others, so that Jesus be exalted above all. In His precious name I pray and give thanks, amen.
